Greenwich police conducted a traffic stop Wednesday, Feb. 13 at around 1:30 p.m. after observing a vehicle run a stop sign. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Julio Patrone of the Bronx, was found to have no license.
Further investigation also led to the discovery of two Alexander McQueen wallets inside the vehicle, one valued at $995 and the other at $1,095 for a total of $2,090.
Patrone and the vehicle’s passenger, 27-year-old Emmanuel Navas of the Bronx, initially denied having any knowledge of the wallet. Later, they admitted that the wallets were stolen from a retailer in central Greenwich shortly before the traffic stop.
Based on this evidence, police determined that both Patrone and Navas visited Greenwich with the intention of planning and committing an organized larceny.
Both were arrested and charged with the following:
- Organized retail theft
- Third-degree larceny
- Conspiracy to commit
Patrone was also issued an infraction ticket for unlicensed operation and failure to obey stop sign. Both subjects were unable to post bond and are being held at Greenwich Police Department. They are scheduled to appear in Stamford Court on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
